Press Release
July 29, 2024
On July 29, 2024, The State Water Resources Control Board – Department of Drinking Water has canceled the Unsafe Water Alert.
For customers in River Island Territory #1. This does not apply to customers in River Island Territory #2.
Customers of DEL ORO RIVER ISLAND TERRITORY #1 were notified on July 9, 2024 of a problem with our drinking water and were advised to stop using the water for drinking or cooking due to concerns with contamination following mainline breaks caused by a construction crew working on the golf course. We are pleased to report that the water passed bacteriological testing and that it is no longer necessary to use bottled water for drinking and cooking. In addition, since shutting down the wells that were out of compliance with primary drinking water standards and implementing the surface water treatment plant, the most recent sampling for nitrates in the distribution system conducted on July 26, 2024, showed non-detectable results for nitrate. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this public notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

As of this afternoon on July 23, 2024, The State Water Resources Control Board – Department of Drinking Water site-visit was completed and Del Oro Water has been given permission to begin delivering water from the treatment plant. This state of the art facility represents a significant advancement in our community’s infrastructure, ensuring cleaner water and a healthier environment for all.
To ensure smooth integration and optimal performance, the treatment plant is required to ramp up production gradually over the coming months. This phased approach allows us to carefully monitor and adjust operations to meet both regulatory standards and community needs effectively.
Wells #2, 5, 11, & 33 have been taken offline and are not producing water, which lifts all Compliance orders.
The Do Not Drink Notice is still in effect until lab testing is completed. This process will continue over the next several months.
Stage 5 Conservation is required to remain in effect and your continued efforts are still needed.
We understand the importance of transparency and community involvement throughout this process. As such, we will provide continued updates on the progress and any relevant developments. Your feedback and cooperation are invaluable as we work together to enhance our environmental stewardship.
