Project Update – Foundation Construction
Drilling operations continued as crews encountered competent and challenging material, including areas of “touch rock.” Despite these conditions, drilling progress averaged approximately 1-2 inchs per hour through the rock formation. The team maintained steady advancement, and all pilons were successfully drilled and constructed to a depth of 12 feet as designed.
Rebar and caisson frames are being placed and prepared for cement.

Project Update – Site Access Construction Underway
We are pleased to report that contractors are now actively on-site and have begun construction of the access road leading to the project site. This marks a critical step forward in the overall progress of the project.
The road work includes grading, compaction, and base layer installation to ensure safe and reliable access for heavy equipment and materials. Weather conditions have been favorable, allowing crews to make steady progress since mobilization.
This phase is expected to continue over the next several weeks, with regular updates to follow as key milestones are reached. Once the access road is completed, staging and foundational work at the tank site will begin shortly thereafter.
We appreciate the continued cooperation of all parties and remain committed to keeping the project on schedule.

Tank Replacement Project Officially Underway
The long-awaited tank replacement project is now officially underway, taking shape on a challenging piece of terrain that few contractors were willing or able to tackle. While most declined to submit bids, Bartlett Construction stepped up to the plate with their expertise to meet the challenge. The site’s steep topography, combined with the precision required to install a new 200,000-gallon tank in place of the existing 60,000-gallon tank, has made this a uniquely complex undertaking.
Over the past year, we worked diligently to secure a contractor with the specialized expertise required for this complex project. After a comprehensive evaluation process, Bartlett Construction was selected for their proven ability to meet the site’s unique demands. The steep terrain, restricted access, and the logistical challenges of transporting and installing the tank components combined with the need for additional retaining walls have resulted in a $650,000 increase over our engineers’ original construction cost projections. This estimate does not include the significant time and resources already invested by Del Oro Water Company and its engineering team in evaluating multiple potential locations.
After extensive analysis, the final site chosen is adjacent to the existing tank. This location was selected for its structural suitability and its ability to preserve the area’s primary viewscape a concern raised by many residents and carefully addressed during the planning process.
We will continue to provide regular updates here as construction progresses. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to complete this vital infrastructure upgrade.

California Pines Tank Replacement Project
To better serve our customers in California Pines, Del Oro Water Company will be replacing the current 64,000 gallon storage tank with a new 200,000 gallon storage tank. The new storage tank will be located adjacent to the existing tank and the size increase will create a significant reserve supply and increase on site fire protection. We thank all of customers in advance for their understanding and patience during the approximately six months of construction activity. Monthly updates will be posted to the website on this thread, so check back to watch our progress.
