Water Storage Critically Low – River Island Territory 1
Del Oro Water Company (DOWC) would like to address the frustrations customers are currently experiencing. DOWC sends our appreciation to the many customers who have reduced their water consumption, however, there are still customers while are using an egregious amounts of water. DOWC has defined egregious water consumption as usage of over 150 cubic feet or 1,122 gallons per day on non-watering days. For a monthly bill, that is 4,500 cubic feet or 33,660 gallons. State Water Resources Control Board – Division of Drinking Water (SWRCB-DDW) has defined usage for health and safety at 55 gallons per person per day. DOWC’s allotment of 150 cubic feet per day is equal to 1,122 gallons, or water for health and safety for approximately 20 people per household. During the June billing cycle, customers used 7,049,930 gallons of water. During the July billing cycle, customers used 7,334,492 gallons of water in total, the top 57 of the total 470 customers used 3,271,415 gallons of water. DOWC has consistent data of the volume of water produced, water levels in the tanks and pressure in the system. DOWC has also been reading meters daily for customers found to have egregious usage.
